Jasmine Maddock is a British artist living in Liverpool. Maddock's art pieces are of note because of her mix of text, clipped images and a combination of painting & drawing. Her collaged and mixed media works are comical, satirical and often use dark humour. Many of her works have aspects of Surrealism.
Thematically, Maddock comments on advertising, societal habits, vanity, the subconscious, domesticity, & sexuality.
Personal Statement:
What is profound, comic, surreal, original and observant? Jas Maddock's illustration /art work/hand made greeting cards. In A6-A2 size; acrylic, ink, pencil and cosmetics, it covers dream images, fairies, comic characters in b/w and surreal juxtapositioning of 'everyday' objects. Working to commission or personal brief, my inspiration comes from both my one off mind and seeing things around me in a surreal way. I make full use of Photoshop to scan and reinterpret my work, and exhibit on websites such as www.risingartist.com and www.theartshopper.com, as well as in galleries such as Transformerrooms and the SAA 2000 exhibition, at which I was awarded 1st prize for.
