Paintings of Lilith by Charles Alexander Moffat :
|
Above the City : 2000 |
Moffat has done a lot of paintings of Lilith over the years, so many that he founded the Lilith Gallery and Lilith Library. These are a few of the more popular paintings of Lilith that he has produced over the past so many years. He has become the premiere painter of Lilith in the entire world. Nobody has made more paintings or made more of a "fuss" about Lilith as he has, artistically speaking. The only other person he can be compared to is Sarah McLachlan who is Moffat's equivalent in music, for all of her work concerning Lilith Fair.
Moffat's research about Lilith (and related archetypes) is also quite extensive and there is very little about the legends and myths surrounding Lilith that he does not know. He has become a well-respected historian on the topic and is even working on a non-fiction book about the identity/archetypes of Lilith. Moffat's paintings concerning Lilith are really about gender and sexual identity. Androgyny is a common aspect of Moffat's work and thus Lilith is a androgynous female archetype that he tends to paint often. "Blue Lilith" is the most of the works shown here. You can contact amosjo@lilithgallery.com for more info about these paintings. Prints of the paintings are available with prices depending upon size and many of the originals are also for sale. |
