Stefanie Lynn Evans is a guest artist at the Lilith Gallery. Her work could be described as gothic, surreal and sometimes twisted. Even a little depressing if it was not so cute and funny. She even did a cyborgian version of barbie, a homage to H. R. Giger. She cites John William Waterhouse, Salvador Dali, Michael Parkes, Clive Barker, and Tim Burton as her influences.
She studied at the University of Maryland, Montgomery College and trained under neon and sculpture artist Christopher Craft (renovator of neon work for Glen Echo Park).
When talking about her work, she says:
I do not plan before I began a new piece of art. I literally look at the blank canvas and let what is on the inside flow outward and materialize into paint. You could almost call it involuntary hand movement. An artist gives a piece of themselves to their work, a piece that is a gift to all, to show the utmost intimate and vulnerable part of one's being...the deepest part of the soul.
My work varies in genre and medium. I work from oils to digital, from strict technical o free flowing, from fantasy and fetish to classical. My work is generally dark in nature and is presented as a reflection of myself, how I feel about others, and my perception of the world around me.
Stefanie Lynn Evans currently lives in Washington DC, Metro Area.
